Guess what?

The Wednesday night before Jeff came out to California he got a call from Milgard's HR person in Temecula. Jeff worked for Milgard for almost 12 years and decided to leave for a better opportunity somewhere else. Little did we know that this was leading us to an even more enticing offer from Milgard a month later. Anyway she had called him asking if he would be willing to come back to Milgard and transfer somewhere else. Since she was in Temecula we assumed it would be to California. He said he would consider it, but it would have to be a pretty amazing offer in order for us to afford to live in California. So we had kind of blown it off because we knew Milgard wouldn't pay him enough. So back to my story, on Wednesday night he gets a call that the job is actually back in Phoenix. That was a completely different story for us! Because we loved living in Arizona and before we came to Texas we really wanted to go back there because you can still enjoy California without having to live there. Plus my dad, his dad, his brother, my brother all live there now. And now even my sister lives there! So we were pretty excited about all of that, but we were waiting to hear the actual numbers. So Thursday morning Jeff calls me super early to tell me that the numbers were awesome, way better than expected and that we are moving to Arizona. I was stunned. I had feelings all that day of pure excitement, and complete sadness. I LOVE it here in Texas. My friends are great, the schools are amazing, I had just gotten offered a permanent sub position at the boys school, things were moving right along in the direction we wanted. We were going to buy a house and make Texas our home for the long haul. But the opportunity to live in Arizona where the property taxes are less than 1% (vs the 4% here in TX), we can actually be next to family again, visit California whenever we want, not have to deal with ice storms, we still have to deal with the heat, but that is just 4 months out of the year and the rest of the year is pretty darn near perfect. We can also afford a house that we can grow into over the next (hopefully) 30 years or so. Anyway, my feelings were all over the place. Up and down and all around. I mean hello, this is our FOURTEENTH  move people! 14 times I have packed up our stuff and moved away. This will be the last time. We are buying a house and sticking to it no matter what. So with mixed feelings we will be saying goodbye to Texas and hello again to Arizona.
We are so blessed by our Heavenly Father. We are always shown in so many ways that he has a plan for us and that it is always better then the one we have for ourselves.
Today Jeff is going to be making an offer on a really nice house, so cross your fingers we get it!

Hello Arizona!

bye bye Texas! We are going to miss you!
